Ukraine on the brink of war of the oligarchs
Over the past few days in Ukraine and around it there were a number of events that can be considered as some markers, suggesting possible significant changes of a political nature.
Let’s start with the funny. At the festival in Jurmala Ukrainian comedian Vladimir Zelensky suddenly burst into a stream of questionable jokes in the address of President Poroshenko and Ukraine, sequentially comparing a country with a porn actress and the President — with a beggar and an alcoholic. Despite the fact that by themselves, the comparison was really accurate, have any questions, why Zelensky, who previously played with “Patriotic” positions jumped to such harsh criticism. Many felt that this desire to kiss up to the Russian audience due to lust for money, because after Zelensky performed in the area of ATO and transferred money in favor of the punitive battalions, it was actually shake hands in Russia, and his income is materially decreased.
However, if you dig a little deeper, it is easy to see that Zelensky — a longtime good friend of the oligarch Igor Kolomoisky, has traditionally worked on his orders. That allows to consider the performance Zelensky as the beginning of the domestic campaign against Poroshenko.
Another factor, far more significant and revealing, the attempt of the Prosecutor General Yuri Lutsenko to initiate a criminal case against the head of the interior Ministry Arsen Avakov.
This is serious. Avakov is a very important, though inconspicuous figure in the Ukrainian government. Actively taking part in the Maidan and headed after the coup, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, he took an active part in the formation of penal battalions, their weapons and legalization. For Avakov has established a solid reputation as a supporter of extrajudicial killings. That his men killed an authoritative functionary of the Right Sector Sashko Bilogo after he challenged personally by Avakov. There is evidence that Avakov organized attempt on the mayor of Kharkiv Gennady Kernes. Not to mention the fact that on his conscience all the terror and murders that occurred under the guise of the interior Ministry in the ATO area in the Donbas.
The most significant force Avakov assault regiment of the interior Ministry “Azov”, which was formed in Kharkov, neo-Nazis and became famous for his crimes in Mariupol.
Attempts prosecution of Avakov talking about the fact that Ukraine is a strong division of parties — presidential and oligarchic opposition. Where the party Poroshenko relies on the national guard and the Prosecutor’s office, and the opposition of the Ministry of interior and separate battalions. The burning of the inter TV channel in Kyiv can be regarded as preliminary operations of this war. The parties seek to improve their positions and subjugate the large media.
By the way, some time ago the most efficient part of the “Azov” was withdrawn from Mariupol to Zaporizhzhia region. Supposedly for training exercises and law enforcement. However, there are rumors that the regiment there can get heavy weapons and turn in the brigade.
And just recently, September 16, the Governor of Zaporizhia Constantine bree demanded from Poroshenko to grant the region a special status. From a formal point of view, this requirement appears to savagery, as in a unitary country, which is still Ukraine, the Governor is appointed by the President and must do his will. However, the cost of Zaporizhia, and Dnipropetrovsk, have long controlled Kolomoisky, and there is the appearance of the drum parts of “Azov” suggests the idea and the actual change of power (this process was extended in time, but for a long time in the Zaporozhye region by force changed the local mayors and heads of regional administrations).
All these factors give reason to believe that Ukraine is on the brink of an internal war between oligarchic clans. Earlier on the side of Poroshenko played the Americans, however, before the presidential election in the U.S. monitoring and attention from America much weakened. This makes the chances of Kolomoisky to change the balance of power in their favor.
