Astronomers have found two of the dark moon hidden in the rings of Uranus.
Scientists have found that the Uranium probably have two more satellites.
The researchers re-analyzed data taken by the spacecraft Voyager 2 in 1986 and believed to have found evidence of the existence of two never-before-seen Loong, hidden in the rings of Uranus.
The findings of scientists from the University of Idaho suggests that the two rings of the Uranium (so-called alpha and Beta rings) there are several mini-moons. These heavenly bodies reach a diameter of from two to seven kilometers. According to the obtained findings, the satellites are located at a distance of about 100 kilometers from the rings.
The researchers suggest that these satellites are so small and dark that they kind of merged into the background for spacecraft. The definition of “dark” means that they hardly reflect any light, as most moons of the planet.
Uranus is the seventh farthest from the sun planet in the Solar system. Among the planets of our system, it ranks third in size and fourth by weight. Uranus called “ice giant” because the bowels of the planet has huge reserves of ice. This category is Neptune – the furthest planet in the Solar system.
