The meteorites that fell on the surface of Mars, could erase all traces of life on the red planet. This was reported by scientists from Imperial College London and University of Edinburgh.

Scientists have determined that the falls of meteorites have been destroyed all types of organic compounds. The reason for this is a large amount of carbon contained in the asteroids. Images and analyses made by the Curiosity Rover, indicate the presence of deposits of this element in the craters on the surface of the red planet. Carbon for hundreds of thousands of years could just dissolve all the organic compounds and destroy their remains. Professor mark Sefton from Imperial College London and the University of Edinburgh said that the asteroid literally “scratched” the surface of Mars. In this context, deposits in the form of carbon had destroyed the last vestiges of the traces of life on the red planet.
The scientist notes that to find them will be possible only when a more detailed study of the surface of Mars that currently is not possible.
