The Juno probe conveyed to Earth the first images of Jupiter

Зонд Juno передал на Землю первые снимки ЮпитераThe probe without any problems withstand the extreme conditions in the Jupiter system.

American space probe Juno (Jupiter Polar Orbiter) is transferred to the Ground first after arrival in the Jupiter system images of the gas giant and its moons. On Wednesday, July 13.

According to the scientist, Scott Bolton of the southwest research Institute in San Antonio, the successful operation of the systems shows that the probe without any problems withstand the extreme conditions in the Jupiter system, in particular, increased radiative forcing.

A new image was acquired on Sunday, July 10, 5:30 GMT (8:30 GMT). The device was at a distance of 4.3 million kilometres from Jupiter. On the color image you can see the details of the planet’s atmosphere, including the Great red spot. Also in the picture are three of the four largest moons — IO, Europa and Ganymede.

The first high resolution images will be taken on August 27, when Juno will make his next conjunction with Jupiter.

June 5, station Juno arrived to Jupiter. The journey from the Earth to the largest planet in the Solar system the station took about five years. It is reported by NASA.

The camera will rotate around the gas giant in an elliptical orbit at a distance of five thousand kilometers from the atmosphere (on average). During the earthly years of the planned 33 revolutions Juno around Jupiter with a period of 14 days each. The objectives of the mission included the study of clouds and polar auroras of Jupiter. With Juno, scientists hope to learn more about the origin of the planets, structure and physical properties of its atmosphere and magnetosphere.

Juno is named after the Greco-Roman goddess of marriage and the birth of Juno, sister and wife of Jupiter. The probe was launched on 5 August 2011 from the spaceport at Cape Canaveral with the help of the carrier rocket Atlas V. the Device is manufactured by Lockheed Martin and operated by the jet propulsion Laboratory NASA, located in Pasadena.

Mission Juno will be one of the shortest for American space Agency. It should be completed in February 2018, the flooding of the station in the gas giant’s atmosphere. Scientists thus hope to prevent the biomaterial from the Earth to the moons of Jupiter, in the sub-ice oceans which allowed the existence of life.
