The global reduction of the surface temperature of the planet stopped about 1.2 million years ago.
American climate scientist Caroline Snyder of Stanford University tracked the changes in the average global temperature of the Earth’s surface over the last two million years and recognizes the inevitability of its increase up to seven degrees Celsius. A study published in the journal Nature.
To obtain the corresponding schedule temperature changes, the researchers used more than 20 thousand climate reconstructions of the 59 ocean bottom sediments from the time interval of a thousand years.
The analysis shows that the global decrease in the surface temperature of the planet stopped about 1.2 million years ago. The scientist, based on the experience of past climate change, concluded that maintaining the concentration of carbon dioxide on the planet, even at the level of modern values will inevitably lead to an increase in the average global surface temperature by 3-7 degrees Celsius in the near future, in geological terms, the time for several millennia.
The study, as noted by Snyder, is the most detailed to date, a deep reconstruction of changes in global average surface temperature of the planet.
