Important issues concerning the field of Oncology in Ukraine are discussed at the Congress of oncologists and radiologists.
The national programme for the fight against cancer should be aimed at implementing preventive measures, screening programs, application of standards of diagnostics and treatment of oncological institutions of the country. This was during the XIII Congress of oncologists and radiologists of Ukraine, said acting health Minister of Ukraine Viktor Shafransky, reports the Chronicle.Info with reference to UNN.
In addition, as noted by the official, it is necessary to spend work on improvement of quality of rendering of medical aid to the population and more efficient use of national resources. An important direction is to develop effective ways of financing the field of Oncology.
During the Congress participants will discuss a number of important issues, such as the organization of cancer control: challenges for early diagnosis and screening, family medicine, rehabilitation and quality of life of cancer patients; conceptual issues of experimental and fundamental Oncology; the state of the problem of malignant neoplasms in Ukraine; state of the art and prospects of teaching of Oncology in Ukraine in the format of implementation of the Law of Ukraine “On higher education”; advances in the diagnosis and treatment of hematological diseases; children’s Oncology in Ukraine: experience, problems, prospects.
Also, it is expected the adoption of several important decisions, including the adoption of the Charter of the Ukrainian public organization “national Association of oncologists of Ukraine”, which will facilitate reintegration into the European Oncology community.
Today, the XIII Congress of oncologists and radiologists of Ukraine continues its work.

The Professor also talked about the fact that prostate cancer today can be treated without consequences for men’s health. According to him, in particular, one of the most effective methods of treatment of prostate cancer in men, is the use of cyber-knife, which, incidentally, is in Ukraine.
