American researchers, led by Gilbert Levine confirmed that on Mars there is still life. The study is published in the journal Astrobiology.
These findings, the authors made the data from the two robotic spacecraft “Viking”, which arrived on Mars in 1976. Analysis of soil samples confirms that on Mars, there are still organic creatures, and they were there millions of years ago.
However, scientists are still unable to detect life on the red planet, so the assumption may be disproved in the future, when Mars will travel Rover MARS in 2020.
“Some of the signs found in the soil of Mars, make it clear that the Red planet is still habitable. It at least is about the microorganisms that is certainly if not on the surface, in the depths of Mars,” say the authors of the study.
Spacecraft “Viking 1” and “Viking 2” landed on Mars in 1976. To search for organic molecules, both machines were equipped with chromatographs and mass spectrometers. Determination of chemical components of the soil “Vikings” produced by heating samples and found no organic molecules except chloromethane and dichloromethane. Experts have found that these substances are contamination brought from Earth, — both components are part of the cleansing liquids.
