The new rules will eventually apply to Ukraine.
The European Commission wants to speed up the process of stopping the visa-free regime.
This was stated by Vice-President of the Commission Frans Timmermans at a press briefing on Wednesday, may 4.
“We propose to tighten the mechanism for suspension of visa-free regime for all countries with which it operates,” said Timmermans.
The official promises that the new mechanism will be easier to use on the basis of the possible reasons for suspending the visa-free regime and the acceleration of this process.
The new procedure should be extended to Ukraine after the European Union will provide Ukraine visa-free regime.
It is not clear whether the agreed sentence, or only about the beginning of its development, the newspaper notes.
Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine for European and Euro-Atlantic integration Ivanna klympush-Tsintsadze said that in the EU there is a discussion regarding the procedure of temporary suspension of visa-free regime for any individual state.
“It has no reference to the Ukraine – we are talking about a single mechanism for all countries, including the Balkan States. Due to the migration crisis of the EU States are seriously thinking about it,” she said.
