Tesla is working on a new electric sports car, which will be the successor model of Roadster. The car will be born roughly in 2019 year.
Speaking at an electronics show in Gothenburg, Sweden Tesla Manager responsible for the Nordic countries Peter Bardenfleth-Hansen shared his vision for the future of the sports car. According to him, the successor of Roadster “is slightly different in appearance, a little faster and a little more.”
It is expected that the sports car will be built on a new platform that will also form the basis of Model 3. Unlike its predecessor, the new model will not be parts of the British sports car manufacturer Lotus.
Last year, Tesla CEO Elon Musk hinted that the Roadster successor will be a very fast car. The last model that left the Assembly line in 2012, could accelerate from 0 to 96 km/h in less than 4 seconds. It is expected that the next Roadster will be able to take this height in less than 3 seconds, which is comparable to the top of the supercar Ferrari LaFerrari.
