Experts have called the exact timing of the detection of a possible life.
Astronomers from the US and the EU confirmed the existence of close red dwarf TRAPPIST-1 three earth-like exoplanets, two of which are located in a potentially habitable zone. Experts also said the exact timing of the discovery of possible life on celestial bodies. Devoted to a study published in the journal Nature.
“In 5-10 years we will be able to check them for habitability,” said in an interview with the publication study co-author Julien de wit from Massachusetts Institute of technology (USA). He noted that if scientists find exoplanets traces of liquid water, 10-25 years it will be possible to determine the presence on celestial bodies of life.
Made using Hubble space telescope observations of exoplanets for the TRAPPIST-TRAPPIST 1b and-1c showed that they have a compact atmosphere and really are in the zone of potential habitability (i.e. the surface may be a liquid water). This means that a celestial body is extremely similar to Venus, Earth and Mars, not Jupiter.
Star TRAPPIST-1 is at a distance of 40 light years from Earth. In may 2016 close to it with the telescope TRAPPIST (TRAnsiting Planets and PlanetesImals Small Telescope) opened the three candidate earth-like exoplanets.
Monitoring system TRAPPIST-1 scholars will continue with Webb, who is due in 2018 to replace the Hubble Observatory. Also astronomers within SPECULOOS (Search for habitable Planets Eclipsing ULtra-cOOl Stars) are planning to study and the search for planetary systems close to red dwarfs.
