Scientists told about the use of “bad” cholesterol

Ученые рассказали о пользе «плохого» холестеринаCholesterol does not affect life expectancy.

Experts have discovered that people with high levels of “bad cholesterol” in fact do not live less than their peers with a low quantity in the blood, such cholesterol.

Experts analyzed previous studies involving more than 68,000 people over the age of 60. Scientists set out to test the hypothesis that people with high levels of “bad” cholesterol much higher risk of death from heart disease and blood vessels, and therefore, they are forced to take statins to lower the concentration of lipoproteins.

According to the researchers, each reporting their work demonstrated either the absence of any connection between high levels of “bad” cholesterol and death from heart disease and blood vessels, or even an inverse relationship. This means that high concentrations of “bad cholesterol” often only increases life expectancy. This may occur because of cholesterol to prevent diseases such as Alzheimer’s or Parkinson’s disease.

Next, the researchers plan to ascertain why the “bad cholesterol” is an important factor in the risk of cardiovascular disease among young people but not older people.
