In the center of the image is located a ring galaxy.
According to the official website of the European southern Observatory, the ring galaxy in the direction of the southern constellation of the Sails (Vela) is a bright compact core surrounded by a light blue belt of stars and interstellar gas.
Galaxy ring-type are formed when the center of a huge galaxy at a great speed penetrates a small galaxy-the aggressor. The perpetrator of the collision as a result of the blow triggers a powerful wave that spreads in all directions. Wave pushes the gas clouds at the periphery of the galaxy. Interstellar gas condenses, and clumps of stars are born. The unusual view of the galaxy lies in the fact that in its composition contains at least two rings. Scholars suggest that the “galactic accident” happened a long time ago.
