Scientists have discovered unique bacteria, which lack mitochondria.
Scientists from Charles University in Prague have discovered the cells that have no mitochondria.
A group of biologists headed by Anna Karnofsky’s (Anna Karnkowska) from the Charles University in Prague made an amazing discovery.
Scientists studied eukaryotic cells, which do not have mitochondria. It should be noted that previously, scientists have noted that mitochondria are responsible for energy production and video is a required component of all cells of living beings which have a separate kernel.
An unusual organism, which has no mitochondria were representative of the genus Monocercomonoides. They belong to metamonads.
“Eukaryotic cells living in conditions of constant lack of oxygen, often have relatively small mitochondria, but we all believed that they still are critical to their lives. We found a microorganism with a separate core, which, in principle, no mitochondria,” – said the head of the group of scientists Anna Karnowski.
