Scientists have taught the brain to cope with the pain

Researchers from Manchester University have approached the question of how you can “customize” the brain so that a certain frequency of operation he could cope with the pain and get rid of her man.

It is no secret that chronic pain of different nature, are quite irritant in everyday life, and yet for one reason or another, chronic pain is suffering from a 20% to 50% of the population of the globe. Unfortunately, at the moment there are too few tools and approaches to getting rid of chronic pain, but experts-neuroscientists have managed very original approach to solving this problem, offering more than an interesting approach.

It is known that nerve cells in the brain surface are connected into a single network so to function at a certain frequency. Early experiences with alpha brain waves have shown that they may affect other parts of the brain, provided that they “played” with a frequency of 9-12 cycles. Scientists have discovered that alpha waves in the front of the brain directly connected with the process of anesthesia and may affect other parts of the brain, and forcing them to stop feeling the pain and send pain signals to other parts of the body.

Project leader, Dr. Cathy Eksi from the University of Manchester, together with his team conducted an experiment in which selected volunteers listened to and watched a special alpha waves that stimulated the work of other parts of the brain and a few who cheated on her.

The results were the most surprising – experiments have shown that visual and auditory type of assimilation of alpha waves led to a significant reduction in the threshold of perceived pain that subjects experienced in the application of a special laser on the back of the hands. This study can become a confident basis for the development of specific therapeutic approaches to reduce the impact of chronic pain.
