Scientists have identified who is susceptible to lung cancer

Experts call the four main reasons that drive non-smokers in the risk group:

3. Electronic cigarette. Do not think that if you’re using a hookah, a pipe or e-cigarette, it will protect you from cancer. Researchers from the University of Athens, for example, recently found that prolonged use of e-cigarettes increases the danger of lung tumors.

4. Genes. Another reason of the disease is insidious genes. Scientists believe that they directly or indirectly make a person predisposed to tumors.

In the regions around Chernobyl are suffering from cancer 3 times more often.

Experts from the National cancer Institute declare: in Kiev, Chernigov, Vinnytsia, Rivne, Zhytomyr and Volyn regions the biggest indicators on cancer incidence. The number of patients is twice and sometimes three times higher than the average Ukrainian indicators. Scientists attribute this to the fact that the regions are heavily covered by radiation during the Chernobyl accident.

– The incidence of cancer is growing throughout Ukraine, – says Elena Kolesnik, Director of the National cancer Institute. – It is important to note, is especially active in areas that are most affected by Chernobyl.

According to oncologists, each year the country registered more than 130,000 new cases of the disease in adults. Most die in Zaporizhia, Kirovohrad and Sumy regions. Men cancer often affects the respiratory tract (trachea, bronchi, lungs), and women – breast cancer. In second place – stomach cancer.
