Scientists have discovered why people become criminals

Gene rs4714329 named responsible for the criminal inclinations of a person.

From 40 to 70% of prisoners suffer from antisocial personality disorder (compared to 1-3% of the General population).

This disorder is closely associated with aggression and manipulation.

The main risk factors are abuse in childhood and parental alcoholism. Among men, this disorder is more common than among women.

An international team of researchers studied the genes of 749 prisoners from Finland. 568 of them suffered from antisocial personality disorder. Scientists compared the genes of prisoners with the genes 9616 people from the General population. The study showed that the gene rs4714329 was associated with antisocial personality disorder.

Rs4714329 were related to genes LINC00951 and LRFN2, expressroute in the brain, especially the frontal lobe that plays an important role in human behavior.

Scientists discovered that the syndrome of attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) increased the risk of antisocial personality disorder. Genes that increase the likelihood of ADHD, have been associated with antisocial personality disorder.
