Tiny insects have bright coloring and know how to dance.
Australia has discovered a new species of spider, a peacock, living on the territory of several States.
It is noteworthy that the males of this species of spider is their bright coloring, as well as the ability to dance.
“They are not only very bright, but also doing something special. Namely, performing incendiary dance to attract the female,” – commented on the opening of the Sydney scientist Jurgen Otto.
It is reported that scientists have discovered seven species of this spider. Experts note that the process of mating they have a fairly dramatic – if the female does not like dance performed by a male, she eats him.
While scientists have not yet clarified exactly when the female eats the male before or after mating.
It is known that in most cases the females eat males after intercourse. Thus, they make up for spent on “romantic date” energy.
The newspaper also reports that the size of these tiny creatures – from three to five millimeters. They live mainly in the South of Australia.
