In particular, we successfully achieved the transmission of the laser beam power of 5W at a distance of 1.5 km, and a Beam went from the emitting to the receiving installation, where they were converted into electricity, which is enough to charge the cell phone battery. According to the staff of RSC Energia in a few months they will be able to charge at a distance a small unmanned aerial vehicle, and a year later a full — sized drone.
Previously it was reported that if successful ground-based experiment for wireless energy transmission it is planned to arrange a similar test in earth orbit. In outer experiment, scientists will try to transfer energy from the ISS on a cargo transport vehicle “Progress”, withdrawn from the station for a short distance.
