A team of researchers from INSERM studied the brains of primates and humans in the process of adapting to critical situations and found that in such cases it creates a unique form of neural network. So our brain adapts to unfamiliar situations and preparing for any eventuality. As noted in an article published in scientific journal PLOS Computational Biology, under “unknown” are assumed to be not covered by the evolution of the situation.
Neural connections form a kind of “reservoir” network, where multiple pulses are mixed together or bounce off each other. It establishes a unique combination of pulses, allowing us to adapt to unusual situations and behave properly.
His theory neuroscientists have confirmed experimentally. The researchers developed a model of the reservoir network is able to perform certain tasks, and compared the activity of neurons in it with the work of the prefrontal cortex in laboratory primates. Thus, scientists have identified many similarities in the activity of nerve cells.
