Giant clouds of Jupiter managed to shoot astronomers from the United States.
American astronomers at the University of California in the United States managed to shoot giant clouds of Jupiter and recreate his atmospheric card.
Special attention of scientists has also attracted a large red stain, which they found on the planet’s surface.
Changing the extension of the atmospheric maps of Jupiter to 1,300 km per pixel, astronomers were able to make it more detailed for consideration and to see clouds of ammonium hydrosulfide and ammonia. The temperature of these clouds was equal to -73°C -113°C, respectively.
In the atmosphere of Jupiter, there are zones in which the ammonia is almost completely absent, at the same time in certain parts of the world its concentration is very high. Typically, these areas are clouds above the planet’s surface, which are formed as a result of its allocated flows of chemical compounds. With the improved model of the telescope, astronomers will now be available for fixing such areas, invisible in the optical range of wavelengths.
The migration of clouds of ammonia, scientists say, is due to the turbulence of the atmosphere of the fifth planet from the sun. “We were able to create a three-dimensional system of distribution of ammonia on Jupiter, which would more clearly demonstrate all the movements of this substance due to fluctuations of the gas giant’s atmosphere,” says Imke de Pater, a specialist at the University of California, Berkeley, Imke de Pater.
