Rolls-Royce creates ships that can be controlled from the shore.
Manufacturer of cars and engines, rolls-Royce will create the world’s first ships that do not require human control on Board. So, the new project provides that the vessel will be guided remotely from land.
British automaker Rolls-Royce has aimed to create a fleet of “ships and drones”, that is those courts that will not need to control directly. So, to manage the new generation of ships will be possible remotely. It is noted that it will happen before 2020.
Speaking at the Symposium Autonomous courts in Amsterdam, the Vice-President of rolls-Royce Oscar Leavander said that the technology is ready.
“We will show the ships with a remote control for commercial purposes by the end of the decade,” he said.
The Leavander added that the testing takes place in Finland. A group of engineers have created a simulation of Autonomous control system of the ship. The project cost is $7.3 million.
It is noted that the advantages of this vehicle is its light weight and space that will be used for cargo. In addition, the operation of such ships would be economical.
