Reuters: Russian oil in Poland replaced the supply from the Middle East

Trader Mercuria, once the largest seller of Urals crude oil to Polish refineries ceased operations with the Russian raw materials. About it reports Reuters, citing two sources in the industry.

According to them, Mercuria business, which sold the biggest Polish refinery Orlen and Lotos oil imported through the pipeline “Druzhba”, suffered because of the growing volume of oil supplies from the Middle East.

As previously reported, on August 14 the Lotos refinery needs to get the first batch of oil from Iran in the amount of 2 million barrels. Last fall, the oil supplies to Poland of the early Saudi Arabia.

Mercuria currently exempt leased tanks for storage of oil in Gdansk and planning to send unclaimed remains of Urals in the amount of 250 thousand tons in Asia.

According to sources, the company plans to use the tanker Atlantas, which will bring in Gdansk Iranian oil.

According to sources, the lease of the shore tanks at the company ends in August, and she’s not going to renew it.

In the company explained, “that the unloading capacity from the Urals is only a reaction to market changes and does not mean the cessation of operation of the company in Gdansk and Poland in General.

Mercuria Energy was the largest trader of Russian Urals on the Polish market. Her contract with Orlen refinery in 2015 was for the supply 6.3 million tons of oil, while the contract of “Rosneft” with this refinery is 6 million tons of raw materials.
