Исследователи выяснили, как лишний вес влияет на развития ракаMyeloma cause cancer of the blood.

It is no secret that obesity increases the risk of cancer. Researchers from American University found that a high body mass Index (BMI) contributes to the development of multiple myeloma – blood cancer.

The study involved volunteers with normal weight (BMI 25) and obesity, including severely obese people (BMI 25 to 40), reports NDTV.

For the study, experts have taken stem cells of patients undergoing liposuction. They turned them into fat cells. Then these cells were grown from cells of multiple myeloma. In the bone marrow, which often starts the disease, the fatty cells have played an important role in the life of cancer cells. If your BMI increased, fat cells were associated with cells of multiple myeloma.

Fat cells grow, receive additional fats and singled out the inflammatory proteins associated with cancer. The scientists also found a correlation between BMI, angiogenesis and adhesion. Indicators of disease progression. The researchers hope that their discovery will help in developing new treatments
