The liquid water was present on Mars far longer than previously thought.
American scientists have found that some of the water of the lake appeared on Mars much later than previously thought. This was stated by the experts from NASA, analyzed data from the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter (MRO).
But researchers found traces of the same fresh mud flows, noting that the rate at which water flowed through these valleys, it is comparable to the speed of the streams formed from melting snow.
According to the researchers, liquid water was present on Mars far longer than previously thought. Presumably, these climatic conditions might well be necessary for the emergence and maintenance of life on Mars factors.
Currently orbiting Mars are five stations. Three of them were American: Mars Odyssey (since 2001), MRO (2006) and MAVEN (Mars Atmosphere and Volatile EvolutioN, with, 2014).
