Oil production in China fell to the lowest level in more than a year

China in April 2016 have reduced oil production to a minimum of 14 months, while the decline in coal production was a record for the year, to the report of National statistical Bureau of China.

Oil production in the second largest fuel consumer in the world after the United States last month fell by 5.6% yoy, to the lowest since Feb 2015 16,59 million tons to 4.05 million barrels per day, reports “Interfax”.

Meanwhile, China continues to increase imports of oil. So, in April, foreign purchases of oil increased by 3.2% compared with March and came close to the record levels of February, while the volume of oil refining in the last month was the highest in history.

The production of coal decreased by 11%, a record pace from February 2015, to 268 million tons. This year China set a goal to reduce the proportion of coal in its energy basket to 62.6% from 64.4% last year.

Meanwhile, China has reduced aluminum production in the last month on 1,2% in annual expression, to 2.57 million tons. In January—April metal production decreased compared to the same period last year 1.7%, to 9.94 million tons.
