Once the fourth largest lake in the world is almost completely dry.
The us space Agency NASA has released a new series of images that show the dramatic desiccation of the Aral sea located in Central Asia between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
The Aral sea – once the fourth largest lake in the world.
Since the 1960s, it rapidly became shallow due to the diversion of water from its feeder rivers the Amu Darya and Syr Darya – in the Soviet Union tried to turn the surrounding desert into agricultural land.
Aral sea is now split into two lakes almost completely dry.
Earlier, NASA completed the experiment to simulate life on Mars, which lasted one year.
