Wave represent the sand dunes located near the North pole of Mars.
Satellite orbiting Mars Odyssey has made the fragment of the plot of the red planet, called “waves of Hyperborea”. The fragment shown of the surface is located between the Escorial crater and canyon North. It is reported by NASA.
“Waves of Hyperborea”, shown in the picture are sand dunes located near the North pole of Mars near the Martian polar caps. The name of the area has received because of the characteristic of the terrain.
Presented NASA photo taken on March 2, 2016 station Mars Odyssey. Interest in the “waves of Hyperborea” is associated with the one closest to the canyon of the North. He arose about ten million years ago as a result of some catastrophic event. Causes a huge crack in the polar cap of Mars is still not clear.
Automatic Mars Odyssey was launched to Mars on 7 April 2001 and on 24 October of the same year has reached the red planet. For almost 14 years of Mars Odyssey found water ice under the surface of the polar regions of the planet.
