New images show the latest situation on Mars.
A layered geological past of Mars is revealed in stunning detail in the new color image shown by NASA Rover that is currently exploring the field “the red planet”.
Images were obtained with the Mast Camera (Mastcam) on 8 September. A team of scientists plans to assemble several large, colored mosaics from multiple pictures taken in one place on Mars. “Curiosity science team was ecstatic, and agreed to go on this trip after some time”, – said one of the study’s authors. “The study of these remains has given us a better understanding of ancient sand dunes formed and were buried. They all changed after exposure to groundwater and chemicals,” – added the scientist. New images show the latest situation on Mars.
The scientists also stressed that they managed to establish a place where the Rover will be for years to come. There September 9, commenced drilling deep into the planet to explore the landscape of Mars. Curiosity landed near mount Sharp in 2012 and reached the bottom in 2014, after successfully confirmed the existence of microbes in Martian lakes. This, in turn, confirmed that the planet was previously life.
