Android set a new record.
According to recent reports, growing only a fraction of Android devices. All other operating systems are hopelessly behind.
In the third quarter of 2016, the year the total number of smartphones sold increased by 6% compared to the same period of 2015. It 375,4 million units.
Phones running on the Android operating system, took about 87.5% of the market. For comparison, in 2015, the figure was 84%. The current figure is the highest for the entire history of observations.
At the same time, iPhone sales are down. In the global value share declined from 13.6% to 12.1%. And in the third quarter Apple has sent out to the shops just to 45.5 million units, 5.2% less than in the same period last year.
But all the other operating systems have failed very much – the fall was 2% share of the global market, but in numerical terms this fall of almost eight times – from eight to one million devices.
“BlackBerry and Microsoft Windows Phone is, but their share is reduced, while Tizen and other new platforms disappear because of the modest developer support”, – said the Executive Director of Strategy Analytics Neil Mouston.
