Skype mobile app topped 1 billion downloads.
7 years later, after launching its first app, Skype, the number of downloads exceeded 1 billion, with three and a half months ago, Microsoft said that the app has been downloaded over 750 million times.
“This is a significant step, and we would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has downloaded Skype on their mobile device. So, wherever you are from USA or Russia, with Cocos Islands and of Pitcairn, all of you helped Skype user base grow from a few employees to hundreds of millions,” said Microsoft.
It is worth noting that Microsoft does not specify the actual data on the number of active users of the service. In January this number was approximately 300 million, it is not known whether it has increased since then.
