Lukashenko: Belarus will not fight on foreign soil

Minsk is connected by allied commitments with CSTO countries, but to fight for their interests on the territory of foreign States will not be Belarus, said President Alexander Lukashenko.

Belarus committed to allied commitments in the military sphere, but will not fight on the territory of another country, said Wednesday in Minsk President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko.

“You have to understand that as you are allies of the Alliance, and we are in Union with Russia and other former Soviet States, the collective security Treaty organization. We also do not hide our position on the CSTO, it is simple: whatever someone (of the allies — ed) interests for their (borders edition) elsewhere, we will never fight on foreign territory,” Lukashenka said during a meeting with Deputy assistant Secretary of defense Michael carpenter.

The President stressed that Minsk is building a defensive policy. “If someone tries to fight with us, we will defend ourselves and to perform allied commitments with Russia, but only on this piece of land,” he said. According to Lukashenko, the country the main thing — to protect the integrity and sovereignty of the country, to meet any threats from wherever they come.

He said that Minsk is ready “to discuss any problems, to cooperate with the US, not only because it is a global player”. According to the President, the Belarusian society is good to the Americans, despite the “recent confrontation and sanctions”.

“We do not hide anything. If there is a new weapon — speak directly demonstrated, but not to scare someone. We want the partners clearly understand what is happening. Our military doctrine is purely defensive, we’ve never will attack, we will not use weapons against other countries,” Lukashenka stressed.
