Food in accordance with the principles of the Japanese diet can add years to your life
Experts from the National center for global health and medicine in Tokyo suggest that a balanced intake of grain products, vegetables, fruits, and also adequate consumption of fish and meat may contribute to longevity in a Japanese population.
In the study, researchers examined the lifestyle and diet 36624 42920 men and women aged 45 to 75 years. Participants had no history of heart disease, stroke, cancer, stroke or chronic liver disease and were tracked for 15 years.
Experts have found that men and women who carefully adhered to the principles of Japanese food, had a 15% lower mortality rate over 15 years. This protective effect was associated primarily with reduced risk of death from cardiovascular diseases and cerebrovascular diseases, or diseases of the brain.
