Archaeologists discovered in the ancient city of Petra, located on the territory of modern Jordan huge stone platform Dating to the middle of the II century BC.
As noted, the platform size is approximately the scale of two Olympic swimming pools.
The researchers insist that the discovered structure is not similar to any of the buildings of Petra.
Scientists suggest that ancient stone structure with fragments of columns and stairs could be used for ceremonies.
In turn, one of the study’s authors, Christopher tuttle noted that he had long suspected the existence of another archaeological site on the territory of the ancient city.
On the territory of Petra preserved many ancient monuments. At this age some of them more than two thousand years.
The most famous monument is the temple of the Nabataean al Khazneh was built in the early first century of our era.
