At the science Museum of Japan put on display a new humanoid robot, operating on the principle of neural networks.
Robot called Alter, he operates a 42 pneumatic actuators and the Central pattern generator of movement, according to the portal Еngadget. Alter moves on the basis of environmental conditions. The sensors evaluate the moisture content, air temperature and noise level. Neural network, analyzing the changes of these parameters, generates a specific set of movements and regulates their fluidity.
The Museum has a permanent Alter, the exposure is designed in such a way that the motion of the robot was maximally similar to human movement – a darkened room, various effects like trills of cicadas, and so on. Alter when this really is very similar to human, except that it was not adequate.
The creators of the robot say that sensors play the role of human skin – the principle of assessment of environmental changes and corresponding actions saved. Also the robot was “taught” to sing. But this part of his presentation, Museum visitors tend not to visit – the voice of the Alter was not so nice.
