The problem of radicalization of Muslim youth is quite acute in France. But, as the newspaper Le Figaro, the authorities still have not developed a clear strategy to combat it.
Just two years ago this problem was only a couple of structures, and now there are 75. In total they receive from the state’s 6 million Euro of subsidies (in 2014 – EUR 500 thousand). Such a dramatic increase in attention to radical Islam happened after the terrorist attacks of 2015, the attack in January on the office of satirical weekly Charlie Hebdo and a series of attacks in November in Paris. It turned out that in the country there are about more than 13 thousand persons, professing the ideas of radical Islam.
Fearing that among organizations that provide educational, social and psychological support to young people and their parents, will be those who are interested only in extortion of funds from the state, the authorities decided to take matters into their own hands. The Ministry of the interior expects within two years to open his own deradicalization centers, and prepare a few hundred psychologists and specialist social workers. They will work throughout France, not only in cities but in rural areas.
In addition, Prime Minister Manuel Valls is scheduled to present a plan for combating Islamism.
