Children need good sleep to bring home some good grades. To do this, they should start to accustom to the routine of sleep for some time before the beginning of the school year, suggest experts.

Although many children go to bed quite late during the holidays, the beginning of the learning process, they need to return to a normal routine of sleep, warn scientists from the University of Alabama. Adequate sleep, they believe, necessary for the academic achievement of the child and his overall well-being. 3-5 year olds require 11-13 hours of sleep, and 5-12 year old – 10-11 hours of sleep every night.

“Memory, evaluative thinking, attention, emotional stability and even immunity – all this is suffering from lack of sleep in children of school age. As for teenagers, they need at least nine hours of sleep,” the researchers said.

The survey showed that about 60% of children under 18 complain of fatigue during the day. More than 15% fall asleep at school. A week before the start of the school year, children should begin to put to bed at certain times and not too late to sleep and didn’t feel sleepy at school. In order for the child slept peacefully, the experts recommend to remove from his room all electronic devices, such as TV, computer and mobile phone, which can disrupt sleep.
