Home Steam in the coming weeks will be transformed

In Steam there is a private group to third-party developers where Valve shares plans for the near future. But, apparently, developers in this group so much that any information instantly drained into open access.

On the eve of a gated community, Valve announced that is preparing to make changes to the home page of the store. According to the company’s Gabe Newell (Gabe Newell), a list of recommendations were good. So the next update the interface again takes aim at individual offers for each customer.

The home page posvezheet. > Steam: images of the games in some places will be more, will appear on the left column with links to sections of popular new products, best sellers, latest patches and so on. And the right column with games that are popular among your friends.

But perhaps the most curious for us is a global preference settings. Users will allow to exclude certain types of goods — for example, products with “Early access” program, video, VR and more. Excluded products do not appear on the main page and some other sections.

In addition, Valve will review the system of curators. The curators will be able to specify what type of feedback they left: positive, negative, or simply information. Recommendations from curators you follow will appear in the “main capsule” (apparently, this is a big “merry-go-round”, which occupies the most prominent place on the home page).

With these changes, Valve is hoping to attract potential buyers, not just everyone. Like, if the user leaves certain items in the results on major, he will get likely and valuable space on the page, not leaving the game, that person was not interested.
