Forbes published its first ranking of the largest buyers of Russian oil

Forbes published its first ranking of the largest buyers of Russian oil. In him on the basis of data on volumes of export deals by the end of 2015 included 20 companies. Buyers are in the list in accordance with the total cost of the delivered energy.

First place in the ranking went to the Swiss oil trader Litasco, which is owned by LUKOIL. According to the publication, the volume of procurement of the company amounted to 35.8 million tons, and the amount of contracts — $ 13 billion. It is noted that oil traders “daughter” of “LUKOIL” not only exports products of the Russian parent company, but also works worldwide as an independent player. The company sells in Europe, CIS, Mediterranean, North and West Africa. After the lifting of international sanctions against Tehran Litasco one of the first purchased batch of Iranian oil and petroleum products.

Second in the ranking was China National United Oil Corporation (“daughter” of CNPC). The total amount of contracts amounted to 10.5 billion dollars, while the volume of procurement — 26.9 million tons. Besides Russia, the company buys and sells oil and petroleum products in Western and middle Eastern markets.

In third place in the ranking of Swiss trader Total Oil Trading, which is owned by French Total. The value of the contracts by the end of 2015 amounted to 5.2 billion dollars, purchasing volume of 14.5 million tons. Among the company’s partners in Russia are called “Gazprom Neft”, “Surgutneftegas” and “Rosneft”. In 2015, Total Oil Trading signed a new contract with Rosneft for the supply of 4.8 million tons of oil per year to Germany.

In fourth place in the list of Dutch Trafigura contracts with the amount of 4.9 billion dollars and a purchasing volume of 12.9 million tons. The fifth line takes the Polish Orlen with contracts of $ 3.7 billion and 10 million. In Russia it cooperates with Rosneft for several years. However, after the arrival in December of 2015 the new CEO Wojciech Jasinski, the company decided to increase supplies from Russia and has agreed with Rosneft on the contract for the supply of 18 to 25.2 million tons of oil in three years.

The average cost purchased per barrel of oil the majority of participants of a rating in the range of 50-60 dollars (at the average price of Urals crude oil in 2015 51.2 dollars per barrel).

In 2015, according to the Federal customs service, Russia exported 244,5 million tons of crude oil to 89.6 billion. According to Forbes, the 20 largest buyers of Russian oil accounted for 77.8 per cent of exports (190,2 million tons).
