Research was conducted thanks to the famous experiment of CLOUD in which experts explore the processes of creation of clouds in the atmosphere. Scientists have tried to understand the role performed in this process the anthropogenic impact, cosmic rays and other factors.
In contrast to this, the model of the gas chemistry was based on laboratory kinetics measurements for decades. Here, scientists have constructed a global model for the formation of aerosol using extensive laboratory measurements of the rate of nucleation involving sulfuric acid, ammonia, ions, and organic compounds.
Modeling and comparison with atmospheric observations show that nucleation almost all throughout modern atmosphere include ammonia or biogenic organic compounds, in addition to sulfuric acid. A significant part of the origin involves ions, but a relatively weak dependence on the concentration of ions indicates that the processes studied variations of cosmic ray intensity did not significantly affect the climate through the origin in a modern atmosphere.
