It’s amazing how quickly people forget history. The current situation with middle Eastern refugees in Europe — not the first and unfortunately not the last in the history of mankind. Some 70 years ago during world war II, tens of thousands of refugees have gone down the same path as the people who today are fleeing from conflict in Syria. But instead of to go to Europe, hoping to stay in Germany, they were evacuated.
Why Europeans moved to the East? Around 1944, the Office for refugees and salvation in the middle East started to open camps in Syria, Egypt and Palestine. The people were promised a safe place where you can wait for the end of the war, and civilians of all ages and social groups reached in the long journey to the middle East.
