The US expect from Germany’s active participation in the military containment of Russia. Us President Barack Obama will address an appeal to the Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel during a mini-summit in Hanover on 25 April, according to German media citing a document of the German government.
As reported by Deutsche Welle with reference to the document, the U.S. insisted that the Bundeswehr is much wider participated in rotation of NATO troops to be stationed on the Eastern flank of the Alliance in the Baltic States, Poland and Romania. Furthermore, Washington expects Germany and the UK will provide for this purpose soldiers and military equipment.
So far Berlin has preferred to stay away from these plans because he has already given commitment for the period to 2020 of the broad participation of the Bundeswehr contingent in the new NATO response.
