Deep vein thrombosis – symptoms that you need to know

Тромбоз глубоких вен - симптомы, которые нужно знатьDeep vein thrombosis is a dangerous pathological condition.

I have to admit that we don’t like to go to doctors and often just ignore the problem instead recognize it and begin to heal.

But there are diseases, and ignoring them can be expensive. Sometimes in the presence of certain symptoms better to consult a doctor and get advice, than to come running disease and to ask for a miracle. In this case we will focus on deep vein thrombosis. Particularly at risk are people “over 50”, but the modern sedentary and full of bad habits lifestyle this disease can affect quite young people.

What is it?

Deep vein thrombosis — a condition in which the veins clots. Unlike varicose veins, the problem is not so easy to notice.

Here are the main risk factors: overweight; older age; frequent flights; sedentary work; Smoking.

The clot at this illness is formed in the lower extremities, but, looking up, can go through the veins and clog vessels in the lungs, brain or heart. The outcome of such a blockage, usually lethal. The lesser of two evils — stroke. The doctor detects the presence of the disease with phlebography (x-ray of the veins) or ultrasound. But there are signs that indirectly, but clearly enough indicate its presence. Here they are:

1. Swelling

In the early stages of deep vein thrombosis may result in swelling and redness of the lower extremities. Occurred blockage of the vessel will inevitably result in accumulation of fluid, which creates swelling. The swelling of the limb may be as pronounced and quite noticeable. However, when comparing healthy and diseased feet, the difference will still be obvious.

2. Bulging veins

Most of us have a clear idea about the varicose veins — enlarged, bulging veins. But most people are concerned about the aesthetic side of the issue, while health is also under serious threat. So pay close attention to any varicose veins and so called spider veins and will certainly consult your doctor!

3. Throbbing pain

Note character of pain: if you felt a strong pulsating pain in the arm or leg, and she’s obviously not superficial — it could be deep vein thrombosis! It can be confused with the so-called delayed onset muscle soreness, but if it increases when you are working the affected limb is a signal!

4. The “burning” of the limb

Before swelling or pain you may face the heat in a certain place of the hands or feet. If the inflammation is strong enough and the heat coming from the affected areas at a distance of 1-2 cm from the surface, this could be serious. And again, it is important to remember that inflammation of the joints may indicate another disease is arthritis.

5. Fatigue

In fact, chronic fatigue is a symptom of many diseases. And it is so widespread that people literally stop to take seriously. Of course, in the context of thrombosis should be considered along with other symptoms.

6. Sudden dizziness

If you have neither from that nor from this starts to feel dizzy, there may be several reasons, including the obvious exhaustion. But given the fact that the clot can grow in the direction of the heart, this symptom should be taken very, very seriously. Especially if you do not suffer from low blood pressure.

7. Coughing up blood

Blood in sputum is one of the possible signs of a pulmonary embolism, one of the most serious complications of deep vein thrombosis. Particularly if the cough appears suddenly, as if out of nowhere. In this case, you need to run to the doctor or even call an ambulance.

8. Shortness of breath

Full people weight which becomes a prerequisite of deep vein thrombosis, often experience shortness of breath. This symptom may indirectly indicate a pulmonary embolism, even if you don’t cough blood! If you have never suffered from asthma or anything like that — notice shortness of breath attention and go to the doctor!
