Archaeologists have unearthed a unique tomb in the West of Belize

In the West of modern Belize at Xunantunich archaeologists have unearthed the tomb of a ruler of the Mayan tribes. Information about the discovery appeared on July 28.

The building containing the tomb was located at a depth of about 5-8 meters. Besides remains of human bones, the burial was discovered jade and ceramics. According to scientists, the size and contents of the tomb indicate the importance of the buried in her man. This presumably rested some local ruler.

As shown by the preliminary study of the remains found buried was a middle-aged man. In addition, in the tomb were also animal bones, most likely it was the Jaguar, who was buried in the same grave with the owner.

It is noted that at Xunantunich excavations going back as far as the 1890s. This area is officially a monument of the Mayan culture. On the territory of ancient town is located 25 palaces and temples, the most famous of which is the 40-metre-high El Castillo, as well as 6 different areas.
