Billions of years ago in the desert now Mars there was an ocean of liquid water.
According to the new version of scientists about the origin of water on Mars when the red planet was covered with ice, which most likely was deposited from asteroids.
After some time, about 4 billion years ago, because of the surge of comets and asteroids ice on Mars has melted and formed an ocean that existed about 200 million years. Such version was put forward by a researcher, NASA Timothy Parker at a scientific conference in Texas.
According to him, the ocean on the red planet did not appear by natural means, it could melt the meteor sulfates during the creation of shallow pools.
Was also put forward another version of what happened: the release of vapors on Mars occurred due to volcanic processes, however, these phenomena were associated with the heat that is emitted by the Sun.
It should be recalled that the majority of scientists are inclined to think that earlier on Mars had water, but no confirmation of this assumption they have.
