Apple announced so much new stuff at WWDC that much can not be overlooked.
Apple File System is a new modern file system for iOS, macOS, tvOS and watchOS.
Within 2016 WWDC Apple announced a new file system APFS (Apple File System). She comes to replace HFS+, introduced in 2001.
New file system Apple developed from the ground up with an eye on solid state drives and other storage devices based on flash memory, and data encryption. The system is scalable and can be used on all devices, from smart hours on the platform watchOS, ending with the Mac Pro.
Apple describes APFS:
Apple File System is a new modern file system for iOS, macOS, tvOS and watchOS. It is optimized for Flash drives/SSD, supports powerful encryption, copy-on-write metadata, sharing space, copying files and directories, images, fast change directory, fast cataloging”.
Apple plans to elaborate on APFS at the sessions of WWDC 2016. At the moment, there is a brief description of the file system on the developer site.
APFS made available the preliminary version of macOS Sierra for developers, and the mass introduction of the file system is planned for 2017.Go to the Main page
