In Japan from ATMs unknown stole about 13 million dollars in three hours. According to preliminary data, the attackers used fake cards, manufactured using customer data of one of the South African banks.

As noted, the attackers targeted about 1.4 thousand ATMs that accept cards from foreign banks.

According to the report, the Scam has been used client information to the South African Standard Bank, which estimates its losses at 19.2 million dollars.

“Money was stolen at the same time during the 1400’s operations in different places. The amount of each transaction amounted to 100 thousand yen ($913) – this is the maximum amount for lump-sum withdrawals in the ATM network”, – stated in the message.

At the moment, the police are studying footage installed in the ATMs cameras.
