The company Volkswagen presented at the motor show in Paris, the prototype electric hatchback, which got the name I. D. the Concept car features a fully electric powertrain and Autonomous control.
The prototype is built on a new platform of the Volkswagen group, which is called MEB — Modular Electric Drive kit. Modular chassis was developed, German car manufacturer specifically for electric vehicles. The framework assumes that a flat block of lithium-ion batteries integrated into the floor model. This allowed to lower the center of gravity and to obtain an “ideal distribution of weight between the front and rear axle.
The concept car is equipped with an electric motor, the output of which is 169 horsepower. From a place to hundred kilometers per hour prototype accelerates in eight seconds, and its maximum speed is 160 kilometers. Depending on the car battery, the stock of its progress may vary in the range from 400 to 600 kilometers.
Rear-wheel drive prototype with a single-stage transmission equipped with a system of wireless charging of batteries. The automaker said that 80 percent of the stock of I. D. batteries can be recharged in half an hour.
