Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the official position of his country in the sport, there can be no place for doping, reports RIA Novosti.

Putin discussed the situation around the application of Russia to participate in the Olympic games, which will be held in Rio de Janeiro, with the Russian government.

“The official position of the Russian authorities – the government and the President, all of us, is that in sports, there can be no doping. Sport should be pure, and the health of athletes must be protected”, – said Putin.

The Russian President said about the need to work closely with the disciplinary Commission of the international Olympic Committee, world anti-doping Agency, international sports federations for Olympic and non-Olympic sports.

He also appealed to the Olympic Committee of Russia with a proposal to create an independent public Commission with the participation of Russian and foreign experts for the proceedings in the doping scandal around Russian athletes.

On 18 July, the World anti-doping Agency (WADA) has published the results of the investigation of the independent Committee, from which it follows that Russia was created by doping the system with the support of the state.
