Cameron the lion and Zabu the lioness didn’t live in such luxurious apartments – how to get into this zoo, they were kept in a small zoo with a single purpose – to get their offspring, legrow, who are on the market more than lion and tiger individually.
Cameron and Zabu (Cameron and Zabu) was born in a roadside zoo in New England in 2000. They were kept in very poor conditions – Cameron was 90 kg thinner than necessary for its size, and zaboo, who was born with a defect of the upper lip, never received proper veterinary care and looked dark gray because of the dirt.
Both animals were rescued in 2004, the organization Big Cat Rescue. The principle of the organization – if the animals grew up together, they cannot be separated. And with these animals – and even more so neither a lion nor a tiger never interacted with other animals, except each other. Therefore for Cameron and Zabu built a special enclosure for two.
To prevent the breeding, Cameron had a vasectomy, but when zaboo started flowing, the lion still become overly aggressive. So the owners of the reserve had to remove the ovaries zaboo. It helped for a few years, but then he again began to show strong aggression, both in relation to zaboo, and to the keepers of the cage.
“Because of the aggressive behavior of Cameron, which is strongly depended on testosterone, we were faced with a choice: either to separate him from Zabu, or sterilize it completely. In fact, the decision was obvious.” After sterilization Cameron lost all of his gorgeous mane, but it’s a small price to pay to be happy with his girlfriend.
In ordinary life, such a Union is impossible for several reasons: the habitat of lions and tigers do not overlap, and the tigress would hardly have survived in the wild because of their bright color. Being an albino, the big cat can neither hide from enemies or to lay low, watching for prey.
“Cameron, as usual, the lion in the wild, most of the day sleeping, we’re also very energetic and constantly trying to involve him in their games,” says one of the caretakers for the animals. However, we’re not offended. They still find a way to be together and show each other tenderness and care. After all this time, their relationship with each other is still very strong.
