Ukrainians will be able to buy cheaper cars

Украинцы смогут дешевле купить автомобилиThe reduced excise duty on used cars not older than 2010 model year.

In Ukraine Monday, August 1, entered into force the law on the reduction of excise duties on used cars.

Until 31 December 2018 (the term of the preferential rates) citizen will be able to import one car for a year (max 3 cars) and to clear it at low rates of excise duty.

Within 365 days from the date of registration of the vehicle, a ban on its disposal.

According to preliminary estimates, imported second-hand cars may be cheaper to 900-4000 euros depending on capacity.

According to the law, set the excise tax at the level of:

Is 0.102 Euro per CC for used cars with engine capacity of 1,000 CC;

0,063 Euro per CC for vehicles with an engine capacity of more than 1 000 but not exceeding 1 500 CC;

0,267 Euro per CC for cars with engines over 1 500 CC but not exceeding 2 200 cubic centimetres;

0,276 Euro per CC for vehicles with engine capacity of more than 2 200 CC but not exceeding 3 000 CC;

EUR 2,209 for used cars with a engine capacity of over 3,000 CC

The rate reduction will be temporary (until 31 December 2018), and applies to passenger cars that were manufactured after January 1, 2010. The preferential rate will not apply to vehicles produced in Russia.

President Petro Poroshenko had proposed changes to allow for import at a reduced excise tax for only one car per person during the validity of the law. However, they had to prohibit resale and to require the owner of the car to deliver it personally.
